Call to Action and Flash Rallies: February 18, 2018

KEEP WORKING FOR DREAMERS

#DREAMActNow

***First, an URGENT Flash Rally Announcement***

We have learned that Greg Walden is scheduled to meet with educators tomorrow, Monday, February 19 from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. at the Oregon Education Association office at 2495 S Pacific Hwy in Medford.

Lets share with him and with the public our opinion on how he “represents” us!

Join us at 8:30 a.m. as we rally on the sidewalks in front of the buidling. Bring your favorite signs and flags!

Parking is limited so carpooling is stronly encouraged. Those interested in carpooling from Ashland, please meet at the mailboxes by Shop’n Kart, 2268 Ashland Street no later than 7:45 a.m.

Then at 4:00 p.m. we will rally at the Ashland City Plaza adding our voices to send the message that

Enough is Enough: It’s time for Common Sense Gun Laws!

Bring your families, your friends, your signs, flags, pictures, artwork and poetry.

Last week, progress on Trump’s manufactured DACA crisis stalled with no relief for DREAMers. This began when Trump announced his order ending DACA protections. We jumped into action. Some in Congress responded. Senate Dems shut down the government. Leader Pelosi gave the longest House floor speech ever. Two bipartisan DREAMer bills were written.

But Trump and GOP leadership negotiated in bad faith. They had a racist agenda with no intention of helping these young people:

White house and GOP Senate leadership demanded passage of drastic immigration legislation, aimed to keep America majority white, in exchange for protecting DREAMEers.
DHS derided bipartisan legislation with racist and partisan 9/11 imagery.
— Paul Ryan never moved forward on DREAMer legislation.
Trump doomed bipartisan legislation promising to veto anything but his own plan.

Bottom line: Trump, his administration, and some in the GOP are too racist to ever help DREAMers. We could have shut down the government for months, marched in the streets, called nonstop, but it might not have mattered.

What’s next?

We keep calling for a DREAM Act. We protect DACA recipients from deportation.

We elect MoCs who support DREAMers in November.

We keep fighting for our values.

We The People Stand Indivisible!

**ACTION 1: Go to Monday’s Rallies**

Monday morning tell Greg Walden what you think in person.
Monday afternoon join together to declare Enough is Enough!

**ACTION 2: GET YOUR MID TERM GAME ON!**

Last week showed us that we need a different Congress to help DREAMers. Make sure you and everyone you know is registered to vote. Take time this weekend to plan how you will get involved in the midterm elections. The very lives of these young adults depend on it.

Check out the action groups below. Each is ready to tackle the 2018 elections in a particular way. Find one that speaks to you and sign up for its email or follow it on social media. This list is just a small sample of the amazing groups out there. If you know of other resources, please let us know.

**ACTION 3: Leave a message for #Complicit Greg Walden and our Senators**

SAMPLE SCRIPT:
“My name is [–] and I’m a constituent and voter from [city], Oregon [zip code]. I am very concerned about the fate of the DREAMers. These young adults need Relief Now, but things have stalled in part due to racist elements in Congress and the White House. [I ask the Senator to do all he can to bring a clean DREAM act for a vote.] [I challenge Greg Walden to prove he is not a racist, to do the right thing, to put people before party, to bring a clean DREAM act for a vote.] Thank you”
