STOP TRUMPCARE: SHARE OUR STORIES
——————————————————————————————
#DumpTrumpCare
#ProtectOurCare

Last week, the House voted YES on TrumpCare – a plan to deny health insurance to 24 million Americans and cut $880 billion from Medicaid. This bill robs from the poor to give to the rich: it will cost American jobs (http://nyti.ms/2qQK5FU), put people at risk of bankruptcy (http://bit.ly/2qPOIB4) and give the wealthy a tax break.

— TrumpCare passed the House, but it is NOT the law of the land—

It Must Die In the Senate!

— The Senate needs only 51 votes instead of the usual 60. However, they have the option to scrap the bill and start over. http://nyti.ms/2pojsrB

First, we must make it clear to the HOUSE we DISAGREE with TrumpCare (http://bit.ly/2qEwNQG)

Second, we must tell our SENATORS that they must either improve the ACA or vote NO on TrumpCare.

Senator Wyden is asking for us to make our voices heard http://bit.ly/2pmvQZq and http://bit.ly/2q0LsD2.

We must let him know we’re firmly behind him! We must share our stories: On the phone, in person, on social media.

**ACTION 1: SHARE YOUR STORY WITH CONGRESSMAN WALDEN**

The most effective calls include a personal story. Please share how TrumpCare will affect you.

SCRIPT: “My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon. I am APPALLED that Congressman Walden’s was an architect of TrumpCare. I will remember his role and his vote come November 2018.”

Join us at today’s Rally and Die-in!  We will meet at 10 S. Oakdale in Medford at noon today to express our outrage that Walden, who “represents” us, would support an outrageous health care bill.  Following our gathering we will march to Walden’s office and then move on to Vogel Plaza where we will conduct a die-in, a form of nonviolent direct action protest where we publicly pretend to die to highlight the deadly problems contained within this proposed legislation.

Bring your signs, photographs, messages and passion as we send a clear message to Walden that his actions do not represent us or Oregon values.

**ACTION 2: SHARE YOUR STORIES WITH SENATORS WYDEN AND MERKLEY**

SAMPLE SCRIPT:
“My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon. I am asking Senator [-] to throw out TrumpCare and work on legislation that improves the ACA.”

**ACTION 3: HELP FAMILY AND FRIENDS SHARE STORIES**

Please help family and friends call their Congressional delegation – especially their House Reps- and denounce TrumpCare. Every district is in play. http://nyti.ms/2pawXiA.

**ACTION 4: SHARE YOUR STORIES IN PERSON**
Show up in person to a town hall or district offices. US Representatives should be at home for the next week for the House recess. Go see them. Ask questions about the future of health care. Share your story. Follow events here: http://bit.ly/2qwYTxc and on our website:  https://ord2indivisible.org/events

**ACTON 5: SHARE YOUR STORIES ONLINE**
Share your stories with Congress and the President. Tweet them directly (@realDonaldTrump, @HouseGOP, @SenateGOP). Send them to Senator Merkley at http://bit.ly/2mTMX5P. And/or, send your story to Indivisible Oregon via private message on FB; we will group stories together and deliver them to our Senators’ staff.

**ACTION 6: MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD WITH YOUR POCKETBOOK ***
Donate to the opponents of Republicans in swing districts who voted for TrumpCare http://bit.ly/2pdSxPi
