STAND FIRM TO DEFEAT TAX SCAM AND FUND PROGRESSIVE PRIORITIES

Tick, tock, tick, tock. Nine working days left in the Senate, eight in the House before Dec. 8: the deadline for passing funding. Instead, Congress is wasting precious time on a tax bill that rewards its billionaire donors and likely triggers the next recession.

The GOP is trying to ram the Tax Scam through Senate, survive Democratic actions to derail it, and reconcile its version with House’s bill. They will also need to seek another short-term continuing resolution to fund government until year-end—when Congress must also deal with the debt ceiling increase to avoid early January default. Since neither bill can pass without Democratic votes, Dem’s must force inclusion of these priorities:

— protect Dreamers 
— fund Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and Community Health Centers
— guarantee health insurance subsidies Trump stopped last month 
— greater funding for natural disaster relief
— no border wall

Senators with a conscience MUST oppose the Trump Tax scam with all available procedural tools: 1) adding amendments; 2) voting “no” on Motions to Proceed; 3) withholding unanimous consent on every bill or nominee.

They must refuse a continuing resolution without protections for Dreamers, restore funding for CHIP, Community Health Centers and the ACA health care subsidies, and block all funding for a border wall.

If necessary, SHUT DOWN the government!

Also, I fully support your refusal to vote for a continuing resolution unless it includes protections for Dreamers, restores funding for CHIP, Community Health Centers, the ACA health care subsidies and disaster relief, and blocks funding for a border wall—even if that means a temporary government shutdown. Thank you.”

**ACTION 2: CALL CONSTITUENTS IN SWING STATES**

Call progressive constituents in critical swing states – Alaska, Arizona, and West Virginia – and urge them to call their Senators to VOTE NO on the Tax Scam.
