Call to Action: January 2, 2019
The House Turns BLUE Tomorrow!
NO SHUTDOWN. NO WALL.
Happy New Year. One more day until a new Congress. We have the same message for them.
Trump and his GOP—including GREG WALDEN—have caused a partial government shutdown set in motion by Trump’s inflated ego and rampant racism. Federal workers, federal contractors, and those they help, are suffering. Service personnel and secret service agents protect without pay. And while the country goes through this Trump-inflicted trauma, children are dying at the border, victims of Trump’s racist policies.
Greg Walden remains complicit. Silence is consent.
All this pain must come to an end in the new Congress. We demand that the incoming 116th Congress:
- Immediately pass a spending bill with NO money for the wall
- Pass legislation to make sure federal workers and contractors get back pay
- Investigate the abuse and child deaths at the border
Tell our members of Congress that we expect results!
**ACTION ONE: CALL OUR SENATORS**
SAMPLE SCRIPT FOR SENATORS WYDEN AND MERKLEY:
“My name is [Name]. I am a constituent living in [town/city], ZIP code [number]. We need a Congress that can govern. I ask the Senator to do these three things: 1) work to end the shutdown immediately and pass a spending bill with ZERO dollars for the wall, 2) make sure federal workers AND federal contractors get back pay, and 3) call for investigations about abuses and child deaths at the border. Thank you.”
