Call to Action: January 24, 2019

CALL CONGRESS TO REOPEN THE GOVERNMENT

Today is day 34 of the shutdown.  Congress has a chance to end the suffering of the country and reopen our government.  We must call to make this happen.

McConnell has agreed to allow two bills to come to Senate floor for procedural votes today.  One is the Trump-McConnell bill which will bring a permanent wall and more anti-immigration policies. The other is a clean continuing resolution, which passed the House, and will reopen and fund the government—but only until February 8th.

By calling, we are not only standing up against racism, but we are also standing up to authoritarianism. If Trump and McConnell’s hostage taking tactics result in a wall, the country will be in a never-ending cycle of government shutdowns that will destroy our democracy.

Yesterday over 12,000 people participated in Indivisible National’s Call-In Day while thousands more called on their own. Each call to Congress is standing up for democracy.

And we must do it again today.

Call to end the shutdown.
Call to stop the wall.
Call to end the suffering.
Call to defend democracy!

ACTION ONE: CALL OUR SENATORS

“My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [town/city], Oregon [zip code]. I am calling to demand that Sen. [–] 1) support the continuing resolution to reopen the government with no money for the wall, 2) get as many of your GOP colleagues as you can to support the continuing resolution and 3) oppose any deal that provides money for Trump’s racist wall. Thank you.”

Please ask Greg Walden to 1) continue passing legislation aimed at reopening the government with no wall funding, 2) reject Trump’s sham compromise if it passes the Senate. Thank you.”
