***Today’s Call To Action***

Vote BLUE to Protect Voting Rights

It’s vital to our democracy that every vote be counted, now and for every election in the future.

When Joe Biden is inaugurated on January 20th, he and a new Democratic majority Senate can start working to ensure the integrity of our elections, and can restore our traditional checks and balances.

We can have:

  • Leadership that will no longer find time to stack federal courts with right-wing disciples.
  • Leadership that will do their jobs and pass legislation for the benefit of every American, not just corporations and the wealthy.
  • Legislation that provides real pandemic relief, protects and expands voting rights, fights governmental corruption, and increases campaign-finance transparency.

For this to happen, we have work to do right now. A GOP installed Justice Barrett would have swung a 4-4 SCOTUS vote which just prevented a Republican attempt to upend Pennsylvania’s right to count absentee ballots mailed on time but arriving late.

Tell Congress Every Vote Gets Counted!

Stop SCOTUS Confirmation!

Get Out the BLUE Vote!

**ACTION ONE: CALL OUR U.S. SENATORS**

SAMPLE SCRIPT FOR SENATORS MERKLEY and WYDEN:

“My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code].

Voting season has already begun. It ends only when every ballot has been counted. I am asking the Senator to protect our elections:

  • Demand that every ballot that is mailed on time is counted no matter how long it takes.
  • Demand that every member of Congress pledges the same.
  • Use every tool at his disposal to stop the confirmation of a new Supreme Court Justice until after the next inauguration.

Thank you.”

**ACTION TWO: CALL COMPLICIT GREG WALDEN**

SAMPLE SCRIPT FOR WALDEN:

“My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [town/city], Oregon [zip code].

It’s vital to our democracy that every vote is counted. We’re in a pandemic. This is election season. There is not just an election day. Tell Greg Walden to put country over party and protect our elections:

  • Demand that every ballot that is mailed on time is counted no matter how long it takes.
  • Demand that every member of Congress pledges the same.
  • Demand that your party stop the confirmation of a new Supreme Court Justice until after the next inauguration.

Silence is complicity.

Thank you.”

October 21, 12:30 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Ongoing every Monday, Wednesday and Friday
#MyORHealth  Support is available for Oregon’s “helpers”

Lines for Life has created a Virtual Wellness Room to offer support to helpers, mental health professionals, first responders, social workers and anyone considered an essential worker during the COVID-19 pandemic in Oregon. Each check-in call will have a facilitator to guide the conversation.

“We at Lines for Life want to thank you for all the work you do to keep our communities safe,” the organization said. “We are offering a place for helpers to exchange stories of hope and areas of need. We especially want to hear what things are coming up for you personally and explore how we can cheer one another on to continue the good work you are already doing. We ultimately want to create space to breathe out stress and breathe in hope.”

The meetings are held using Zoom conference calls from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at this link: https://zoom.us/j/4848426773. Please share this invite with anyone in your network of Oregon helpers.
