***Today’s Call To Action***
Every Vote Matters
Trump knows he’s losing. That’s why he and his complicit GOP are doing everything they can to suppress our votes. We say every voter must be heard. Every mail-in vote must be counted no matter how long it takes. We’re in a pandemic. This is election season. There is not just an election day.
We know that when Trump loses, he’s going to want to get the election thrown into the Supreme Court. He stated that he wants another ally seated on the Supreme Court before November 3rd. Republicans are bulldozing Amy Coney Barrett into RBG’s seat. Barrett has refused to say she’ll recuse herself from an election dispute; has refused to state that Trump cannot delay an election if he so chooses, despite the Constitution; and believes that an ex-felon has a right to purchase firearms, but not to vote.
Work right now to make sure that we’ll have leaders chosen by all of OUR votes, not by hand-picked ideologues on the Supreme Court.
Vote BLUE Up & Down the Ballot!
Count Every Vote!
**ACTION ONE: CALL OUR U.S. SENATORS**
SAMPLE SCRIPT FOR SENATORS MERKLEY and WYDEN:
“My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code].
I know the Senator agrees that every vote must be counted. I also know that when Trump loses, he’s going to want to get the election thrown into the Supreme Court. I am asking the Senator to:
- Demand that every mailed in ballot is counted no matter how long it takes;
- Demand that every member of Congress pledges the same;
- Use every tool at his disposal to stop the confirmation of a new Supreme Court Justice until after the next inauguration.
SENATOR JEFF MERKLEY

**ACTION TWO: CALL COMPLICIT GREG WALDEN**
SAMPLE SCRIPT FOR WALDEN:
“My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [town/city], Oregon [zip code].
This election must be decided by the votes of the American people, and not by corrupt sleight-of-hand using voter suppression and the Supreme Court. Every voter must be heard. And every mail-in vote must be counted no matter how long it takes. We’re in a pandemic. This is election season. There is not just an election day. Tell Greg to put country before party and:
- Demand that every mailed in ballot is counted no matter how long it takes.
- Demand that every member of Congress pledges the same.
- Demand that your party stops the confirmation of a new Supreme Court Justice until after the next inauguration.
Silence is complicity.
**ACTION THREE: BE AN ACTIVIST**
October 14, 12:30 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Ongoing every Monday, Wednesday and Friday
#MyORHealth Support is available for Oregon’s “helpers”
Lines for Life has created a Virtual Wellness Room to offer support to helpers, mental health professionals, first responders, social workers and anyone considered an essential worker during the COVID-19 pandemic in Oregon. Each check-in call will have a facilitator to guide the conversation.
“We at Lines for Life want to thank you for all the work you do to keep our communities safe,” the organization said. “We are offering a place for helpers to exchange stories of hope and areas of need. We especially want to hear what things are coming up for you personally and explore how we can cheer one another on to continue the good work you are already doing. We ultimately want to create space to breathe out stress and breathe in hope.”
The meetings are held using Zoom conference calls from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at this link: https://zoom.us/j/4848426773. Please share this invite with anyone in your network of Oregon helpers.
