AN IMPEACHMENT INQUIRY MUST COVER TRUMP’S REFUSAL TO PROTECT OUR ELECTIONS
Russia is still interfering in our elections. Trump’s 90-minute conversation with Putin shows our vulnerability under Trump. Trump dismissed Russian election interference and agreed with Putin that the Mueller report turned a mountain into a “mouse.”
Our elections must be secured, yet:
- Trump has stifled a government-wide investigation of election interference
- The $380 million voted by Congress before the 2018 election isn’t enough to cover the costs of replacing major election systems across a whole state
- McConnell refuses to bring up the House-passed HR 1 or any Senate bill to increase election protections
- For the first time in modern memory, voters across the political spectrum may mistrust election results
WE BELIEVE that Trump has committed an impeachable offense by refusing to protect elections from outside interference.
WE ASK the House to hold an impeachment inquiry that includes this dereliction of duty as one of many “high crimes and misdemeanors.”
WE ASK the Senate to secure our elections by passing the companion bill to HR 1, which provides comprehensive protections for the right to vote.
