Congress: Tell Us What You Know About Trump’s Ties to Russia

#TrumpRussia
#Resist

It’s time to press Congress for transparency in its investigations into Donald Trump’s ties to Russia and Russian interference in our elections.

Mid-term elections are coming up fast. Congressional leaders likely will stop investigating so that they can start campaigning.
• The Senate Intelligence Committee co-chairs warned that more hacks are likely. Congress has done nothing to prevent election hacking.
• Meanwhile, the Senate Intelligence Committee chair sees no need for more public hearings. Huh?
• Donald Trump has lobbied repeatedly to end the investigations – a violation of the separation between executive and legislative branches.

This week, Fusion GPS, producers of the famous “Steele dossier” on the Trump-Russia ties, called on the three committees to release the transcripts of their closed-door testimony. Sen. Wyden – a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee — has repeatedly urged the committee to “follow the money.”  That’s what the Steele dossier focuses on, and why it is so explosive.

Our MoCs need to hear from us: committees should hold open hearings and release the Steele dossier. We need to know what to expect as the elections gear up.

How bad is the constitutional crisis?

Tell. Us. What’s. Going. On!

**ACTION 1: Call Congressman Walden**
(Leave a message if you can’t get through.)

SAMPLE SCRIPT for Congressman Walden:
“My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code]. I am calling the Congressman because I am outraged by the lack of transparency around the House investigation into Trump’s Russian ties. I demand that Congressman Walden put country before party, press colleagues to hold open hearings and work to release the “Steele dossier” transcripts. To do less makes him fully complicit with what is obiously a coverup. Thank you.”

**ACTION 2: Call Senators Wyden and Merkley**
(Leave a message if you can’t get through.)

SAMPLE SCRIPT for Senator Wyden:
“My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code]. I am calling Senator Wyden because I am worried about the lack of transparency around Senate investigations into Trump’s Russian ties. I support the Senator’s insistence on holding open hearings. I ask that he press his colleagues publicly to release the “Steele dossier” transcripts. We need to know NOW whether the President is beholden to Russian interests. Thank you.”

SAMPLE SCRIPT for Senator Merkley:
“My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code]. I am calling Senator Merkley because I am worried about the lack of transparency around Senate investigations into Trump’s Russian ties. I am calling to ask the Senator to press his colleagues to hold open hearings and publicly demand the “Steele dossier” transcripts are released. We need to know NOW whether the President is beholden to Russian interests. Thank you.”
