The House and Senate tax bills attack health care on several fronts.
• The House bill will end the medical expense deduction, used by 5 million very sick people, mostly in nursing homes or at end of life.
• The Senate version will keep the medical deduction but repeal the ACA’s individual mandate. The result: 13M will lose health insurance; low/middle income people would lose subsidies; premiums would increase.

Both bills will create deficits big enough to trigger automatic cuts to all but protected programs under the “Pay-As-You-Go Act of 2010” or PAYGO.
• Medicare will be cut by $25 billion in 2018 alone and $400 billion over ten years.
• Other programs will be cut by $111 billion in 2018 alone – including disease prevention, medical research, and public health.
