STOP THE WAR ON WOMEN
Trump’s Access Hollywood tape laid bare his low opinion of women. Now Trump’s and the GOP’s attacks on women continue.
Trump rolled back the Obamacare mandate that employers provide female contraception at no out of pocket cost. HHS argues that this mandate promotes “risky sexual behavior” and is costly. These arguments are false. Access to contraception decreases unintended pregnancies and saves tax payers’ money.
The House of Representatives passed HR 36 banning abortions after 20 weeks https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/36. This unconstitutional bill criminalizes abortion and contains no exceptions for medical conditions. Women carrying a non-viable fetus or suffering serious health conditions exacerbated by pregnancy would have to carry a fetus to term.
Access to reproductive care equals socioeconomic justice for women by allowing for:
• economic empowerment: improving women’s wages
• educational opportunities: helping women to attend and stay in college
• reductions in child poverty
• decrease in ovarian and endometrial cancer deaths
Oregon’s Democratic MoCs understand that . . .
America can’t realize its full potential if women
don’t have socioeconomic justice.
**ACTION: CALL OUR SENATORS**
(Leave a message if you can’t get through.)
“My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code]. I am OUTRAGED by the GOP’s war on women and the 20 week abortion ban. This unconstitutional bill criminalizes abortion and doesn’t take into account the mother’s or fetus’s health. Access to reproductive care provides socioeconomic justice for women. Thank you for supporting reproductive rights. Please do all you can to stop HR 36 from passing the Senate. Thank you.”
