WE SAVED THE ACA – NOW CONGRESS MUST GET BACK TO WORK

#WeKilledTheBill

#PuertoRicoRelief

It worked!! All your phone calls, office visits, texts and emails paid off! The Graham-Cassidy ACA repeal is dead! http://nbcnews.to/2fy0YFI

Take a deep breath. Make a plan to celebrate this weekend. You earned it!

In the meantime: we’ve got some important business before the end of the week. “Repeal and Replace,” has diverted Congress from dealing with pending emergency legislation.

• re-authorization of CHIP which provides funding for children’s health care http://bit.ly/2k0TfkT
• Senate’s re-authorization of funding for home visits for mothers and infants (MIECHV) and for the Special Diabetes Program for Native Americans http://bit.ly/2xEe4Y2
• provision of much needed emergency aid to Puerto Rico which was decimated by Hurricane Maria http://bit.ly/2k0TfkT

All of this must be done this week. CHIP, MIECHV and the Special Diabetes Program will run out of money without re-authorization, and the people of Puerto Rico are suffering through a humanitarian crisis that must be immediately addressed.

The energy we used to save the ACA must now go to empowering our members of Congress (MoCs) to act. Our most vulnerable citizens are relying on our government to provide for their needs, and . . .

We cannot disappoint them!

**ACTION 1: CALL OUR SENATORS**
(or leave a voice mail after hours)

SAMPLE SCRIPT
“My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon, [zip code]. I am so relieved that “Repeal and Replace” is dead, at least for now. Thank you so much for all that you have done. Now it is time for the Senate to get back to work and quickly reauthorize CHIP, provide sufficient funding for mother/infant home visits and for Native American diabetics, and legislate emergency funding for hurricane relief in Puerto Rico. Thank you.“

**ACTION 2: CALL CONGRESSMAN WALDEN**

“My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon, [zip code]. I am so relieved that, at least for now, “Repeal and Replace” is dead—and very disappointed that you supported repealing ACA all through our battle to save affordable healthcare for millions of Americans. I’ll remember that next November.

But, now it’s time for Congress to get back to work and quickly reauthorize CHIP, provide sufficient funding for Native American diabetics, and legislate emergency funding for hurricane relief in Puerto Rico. Thank you.“

**ACTION 3: CELEBRATE YOUR SUCCESS!!!**

Graham-Cassidy is dead because of YOU. This bill could have passed quietly if no one was paying attention. But not on our watch. You pressured democratic senators to be champions against the repeal; you mobilized constituents in red states to pressure their own senators.

Make a plan to celebrate this weekend!

Senate Republicans, short of votes, abandoned their latest and possibly final attempt to kill the health care law Tuesday, just ahead of a critical deadline.
