RESCIND THE ZERO-TOLERANCE POLICY!
Trump met with Kim less than three weeks ago, showered him with praise, and flippantly dismissed his murders and labor camps.
Meanwhile back home, Trump’s zero-tolerance policy treats asylum seekers and unlawful border crossers as criminals. Because of that policy, parents were ripped from their young children, who are now housed in “tender age facilities.” Doesn’t that sound like something in an authoritarian regime?
Succumbing to intense bipartisan criticism but still blaming Democrats for a crisis he made, Trump issued an Executive Order that stopped the family separations. BUT, this EO:
- Preserves zero-tolerance
- Directs the DHS to take entire families into custody while their status is adjudicated
- Seeks to change existing law to hold families, including children, indefinitely
- Does nothing to reunite parents with the over 2000 children who were taken from them
The DHS lacks sufficient housing for these families. The Defense Department has been asked to house 20,000 unaccompanied minors on military bases. Every hour brings more anguish and chaos. The zero-tolerance policy is the cause.
We demand that Congress pass legislation to rescind the zero-tolerance policy, require the DHS to reunite families and provide relief to DACA and Temporary Protected Status (TPS) recipients.
America is not North Korea!
**ACTION ONE: CALL YOUR SENATORS**
(Leave a message if you can’t get through)
“My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code]. I am calling because I’m outraged about Trump’s zero-tolerance policy. This policy led to the cruel and unthinkable separation of parents from their children. Trump’s Executive Order now orders children to be interned together with their parents, potentially indefinitely. Congress must act now to remedy this terrible situation. I ask you to introduce and support legislation to rescind the zero-tolerance policy, to require the DHS to immediately reunite parents with their children and to provide relief to DACA and TPS recipients. Thank you.”
**ACTION TWO: CALL COMPLICIT GREG WALDEN**

I ask you to PUT PEOPLE BEFORE PARTY and to introduce and support legislation to rescind the zero-tolerance policy, to require the DHS to immediately reunite parents with their children and to provide relief to DACA and TPS recipients. **ACTION THREE: JOIN US TODAY FOR A SIT-IN IN MEDFORD!****
**ACTION FOUR: REMEMBER FOR THE MIDTERMS**
We have choices to make this fall. Do we want the current administration’s heartless zero-tolerance policy that separated parents and children and now interns families of asylum seekers? If the answer is no, then join us in supporting candidates who will work to reverse this heartless and evil policy.
The 2018 elections will be the most important of our lives.
