Yesterday, President Trump fired FBI Director James Comey, who was overseeing an investigation into Trump’s ties with Russia. Now, Trump is poised to appoint a new FBI Director, who would presumably take over the investigation.
Other ongoing investigations into Trump’s Russian ties are similarly tainted or stymied:
–The Department of Justice (DOJ) cannot be trusted. Attorney General Sessions had to recuse himself from the Russia investigation (http://nyti.ms/2lvnz2m) and his Deputy AG recommended Comey’s firing (http://nyti.ms/2qPBVS2).
— The House Intelligence Committee is in disarray after Chairman Nunes recused himself from the Russia investigation http://bit.ly/2oN1xey).
— The Senate Intelligence Committee has little dedicated staff to perform an investigation (http://slate.me/2pZD5tE).
Several Oregon MoCs have responded with calls for an independent special prosecutor and/or a call for Comey to testify in an open hearing

However, these statements are far from sufficient. The U.S. has a potentially treasonous president who fired the FBI Director investigating him.
