CALL TO ACTION #899: Demand That The Next Stimulus Bill Puts People First! (April 13, 2020)

205 Days

Until the November 3rd Election

DEMAND THAT THE NEXT STIMULUS BILL PUTS PEOPLE FIRST!

The last COVID-19 stimulus bill gave some relief to workers, but it also contained another $500 billion transfer of taxpayer money to large corporations.  Trump promised to block any Congressional oversight of its dispersal. He replaced the Inspector General responsible for oversight with a loyal staff lawyer.

American workers have been left to deal with overwhelmed state unemployment systems and the probability of continued joblessness once businesses begin to reopen. We don’t need more of our resources diverted to corporations by Trump’s untrustworthy administration.

People need money in their hands now, and jobs in the futureMeaningful policy changes included in the next stimulus bill can make that possible. Many countries in Europe are reimbursing businesses that keep their workers on the payroll while they are closed due to the pandemic.  Workers and small businesses benefit. There has been similar legislation introduced in the House. Demand that our members of Congress support this concept!

We can work together and pull through this. The next relief package should not follow the trickle down model, funneling ever more money to corporations. Another “reverse Robinhood” wealth transfer to the oligarchy is unacceptable. Demand that real congressional oversight commence immediately for every dime of OUR MONEY that has already been given to BIG BUSINESS with no meaningful strings attached.

Please Make Your Calls!

Demand Oversight!

People First!
