Congress has until September 30 to reconcile the Senate and House Farm Bills. The biggest obstacle? — the GOP’s insistence on cutting the highly-effective food stamp (SNAP) program, which delivers vital nutrition to needy families at a bargain price: $1.40/person/meal. The House bill, passed with zero Democratic votes, reduces or eliminates SNAP benefits for more than 2 million people. Unwieldy work requirements would make it more difficult for states to administer their programs and for recipients to navigate them.
The House bill targets working families, children, veterans and the disabled, would increase hunger in America, and is another attempt to pay for the $1.8 trillion deficit caused by the GOP Tax Scam, known in these parts as the WALDEN TAX SCAM (primarily benefiting wealthy Americans/corporations), by cutting social programs on which middle/lower-income citizens rely. It will widen America’s income inequality gap even more.
Most working-age adults receiving SNAP benefits are already subject to work requirements. The bi-partisan Senate bill adds no new work restrictions and expands pilot job training programs.
Food security is a non-negotiable! Undermining food security is unacceptable! Lying Brett Kavanaugh is unfit to serve on the Supreme Court!
