***Today’s Call To Action***

Make a Plan to Vote

Joe Biden will protect us from COVID. He has a pandemic plan. He wears a mask. He has socially-distant election events. Joe Biden’s response to COVID embodies the love and respect he has for all Americans.

Trump lays ill in a hospital, infected by a deadly virus he mocked. Trump deliberately downplayed the virus – 200,000+ are dead. Trump benefits from government sponsored healthcare while vowing to take healthcare away from so many of us.

Democrats in Congress protect us from COVID. The Democrat-led House passed two COVID relief bills – to help us with medical care, unemployment, food, housing.

Mitch McConnell’s GOP controlled Senate refuses to pass COVID relief, leaving us all in peril. Even as GOP Senators fall sick from COVID, McConnell abandons his duty, determined to ram through a Supreme Court nominee increasing the chance of more people losing their healthcare in the middle of a pandemic.

Call Congress NOW!

Make your voting plan NOW!

Get Out The BLUE Vote NOW!

**ACTION ONE: CALL OUR U.S. SENATORS**

SAMPLE SCRIPT FOR SENATORS MERKLEY and WYDEN:

“My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code].

Trump and the GOP have abandoned us. Even as they fall ill from COVID, they won’t pass COVID relief and are trying to ram through a Supreme Court nominee who I fear will help rip away our healthcare. I ask the Senator to:

  • Push for the Senate to pass COVID relief.
  • Use all Senate tools to stop the Supreme Court confirmation. Refuse to agree to unanimous consent and make the GOP obtain a quorum on their own.

Thank you.”

**ACTION TWO: CALL COMPLICIT GREG WALDEN**

SAMPLE SCRIPT FOR WALDEN:

“My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [town/city], Oregon [zip code].

I’m calling to express my outrage that Greg Walden has so little regard for our democracy and the rule of law that he endorses the Trumpist agenda through his silence — and his votes. He has betrayed his oath and I will hold him accountable for that until his last day in office.

Silence is complicity.

Thank you.”

**ACTION THREE: BE AN ACTIVIST**

October 5, 12:30 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Ongoing every Monday, Wednesday and Friday
#MyORHealth  Support is available for Oregon’s “helpers”

Lines for Life has created a Virtual Wellness Room to offer support to helpers, mental health professionals, first responders, social workers and anyone considered an essential worker during the COVID-19 pandemic in Oregon. Each check-in call will have a facilitator to guide the conversation.

“We at Lines for Life want to thank you for all the work you do to keep our communities safe,” the organization said. “We are offering a place for helpers to exchange stories of hope and areas of need. We especially want to hear what things are coming up for you personally and explore how we can cheer one another on to continue the good work you are already doing. We ultimately want to create space to breathe out stress and breathe in hope.”

The meetings are held using Zoom conference calls from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at this link: https://zoom.us/j/4848426773. Please share this invite with anyone in your network of Oregon helpers.
