TRUMP IS UNFIT TO LEAD
FOLLOW THE SCIENTISTS ON COVID-19
We need to be as kind and brave as the people wearing hospital scrubs and masks who are physically blocking armed anti-lockdown protesters. They tell us they are afraid, but they show us that compassion for each other can overcome that fear.
At this moment in American life, we yearn for a president who is as decent as its people. Thanks to the GOP, we are stuck with Trump who daily shows his contempt for WE THE PEOPLE. Recently he has:
- Supported heavily armed extremists demanding to “liberate” their states from imposed isolation.
- Encouraged insurrection by these same thugs with lies that Governors want to confiscate their guns.
- Lied that Muslim mosques are open while Christian churches are closed.
Rather than Sociopath-in-Chief Trump, we need scientists like Dr. Anthony Fauci to lead the way on the COVID-19 pandemic response. Sheltering in place should end ONLY when scientists decide it’s safe. That will be when rapid testing is available nationwide, hospitals are not overflowing, contact tracing can be started, and personal protection equipment is readily available.
Opening earlier, as Georgia is now planning, will surely cause another spike in cases.
America is not composed of 328 million rugged individualists.
Coronavirus has taught us that we are inextricably bound to one another. Self-isolation is our testimony that we can protect each other.
