NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW.
PEOPLE MUST TESTIFY / COMPLY WITH CONGRESS.
Trump has committed and continues to commit impeachable offenses. Trump and members of his administration flout the law and ignore subpoenas from Congress. How can we have a just society if some are above the law?
Attorney General Barr defies subpoenas to provide the unredacted Mueller report and deliberately misrepresented key aspects “that have helped further the president’s false narrative about the investigation.”
Treasury Secretary Mnuchin willfully breaks the law and ignores Congressional subpoenas by refusing to provide Trump’s tax returns. The law states that he “shall”. He refuses to do so.
Former White House Counsel Don McGann refused a Congressional subpoena while former White House Communications Director Hope Hicks is on track to do the same.
These actions have made the hearing process so untenable that Robert Mueller is insisting on testifying in private with only a transcript of his testimony available to the public – another lengthy document few will read.
Why is complying with the law optional for Trump and his administration?
- Barr and Mnuchin must testify/hand over documents or be held in contempt of Congress
- Robert Mueller must testify in public
- An impeachment inquiry must start immediately
No one is above the law.
