RESTORE PROTECTIONS FOR DREAMERS and TPS HOLDERS
————————————————————————————
#DREAMActNow
#NoDreamNoVote
#ProtectTPSHolders

History will tell whether Democrats were smart strategists or spineless cowards when the Senate passed a fourth continuing resolution. Our job now is to fight for immigrants.

More than one million Americans face deportation under the end of DACA and the Temporary Protected Status programs. Our country hasn’t seen deportations on this scale since the Japanese internments.

• McConnell has promised to bring up an immigration bill by Feb. 8 with Democratic support.
• Senate has only 12 working days to pass an immigration bill, a funding bill, and recess for the annual three-day Republican retreat.
McConnell controls only the Senate Republicans, not the House, and certainly not the
President.
• The House-drafted immigration bill is much more punitive.
Trump threw away a bipartisan proposal with 56 votes in the Senate.

We must make our voices heard, loud and clear.
–If an immigration bill comes to the floor through a fair process, then our MoCs must fight for the strongest possible immigrant protections.
–If there is no bill, or if the process is a sham, then our MoCs must shine a light on this breach of trust and . . .

Refuse to vote for another continuing resolution!

**ACTION 1: Call Congressman Walden and our Senators**
(Leave a message if you can’t get through.)

SAMPLE SCRIPT for Congressman Walden:
“My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code]. I am calling to insist that Congressman Walden put People Before Party and stand up against Trump’s racist immigration policies that shame the Republican party and the entire country. Please vote to protect DREAMERS and Temporary Protected Status (TPS) recipients. Thank you.”

SAMPLE SCRIPT for Senators Merkley and Wyden:
“My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code]. I am calling to thank the Senator for voting NO on the fourth continuing resolution. I want him to use his influence to hold the Democratic leadership accountable, and to fight for a pro-immigration bill. Do not vote for another continuing resolution until the Senate passes protections for Dreamers and Temporary Protected Status (TPS) recipients. Thank you.”
