PROTECT OUR JOBS AND HOMES:
NO βFINANCIAL CHOICEβ ACT

Millions of Americans lost their homes and/or their jobs in the 2008 financial crisis. To prevent big banks from exploiting consumers again, Congress passed the Dodd-Frank Act, a set of regulations for the financial services industry (http://cnb.cx/2pVBOS6).
Now, the House is poised to roll back these consumer protections with the Financial CHOICE Act of 2017 (HR 10).
We canβt let that happen!
–The Dodd-Frank Act requires banks to put consumersβ interests ahead of their own; prohibits the speculative investments that led to the housing market crash; and established the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), which can fine institutions when they are unfair to consumers (as they did withΒ Wells-Fargo http://nyti.ms/2poL53K).
–The Financial CHOICE Act would let the financial industry put their interests ahead of yours AND take away the CFPBβs ability to enforce consumer protections (see link to The Guardian below).
–All of this puts millions more in the pockets of big banks while putting America at risk of another financial crisis.
Members of the Oregon Delegation know the importance of the Dodd-Frank Act (http://bit.ly/2qGJOsY, http://bit.ly/2qeAOvn).
We have to make sure all of our Reps Vote NO!

βMy name is [–] and Iβm a constituent from [city], Oregon. I am opposed to the Financial CHOICE Act (HR 10), which would undermine important consumer protections around banking and lending. We canβt have another financial crisis like the one in 2008. Iβm asking Congressman Walden to vote NO on HR 10. We need to protect our economy β not put it at risk of another meltdown.”
