**CALL TO ACTION**
TUESDAY, APRIL 18. 2017

WE WANT TRANSPARENCY!
————————————————————————————
#WhatAreYouHiding

This past weekend thousands marched to demand President Trump release his tax returns (http://wapo.st/2pqoRPF). With the call for tax transparency in the air, the Trump administration announced it will overturn the precedent set by President Obama and NOT publish visitor logs to the White House (http://wapo.st/2nPErXX).

In addition to keeping the White House visitor logs secret, the visitor logs at the “Winter White House” (AKA Mar-A-Lago) are not kept at all, let alone made public (http://n.pr/2ocM2Ls). Trump does official business at Mar-A-Lago with heads of state (http://cnn.it/2oYLzky) and his cabinet (http://bit.ly/2mqxRFM).

There are actions Congress can take to increase the transparency of the Trump administration. In March HR 1711 and S 721 were introduced. Called the Making Access Records Available to Lead American Government Openness Act” or the “MAR-A-LAGO Act” they would require the Trump administration to maintain and publish visitor logs for the White House, Mar-A-Lago and any other private locations the President conducts business. In addition HR 305 and S 26 have been introduced which would require presidential candidates to release their tax returns.

Given the level of conflicts of interests and lack of ethical safe guards (http://nyti.ms/2oCCHA5) transparency is a must for the Trump administration. A few members of the Oregon delegation agree and have co-sponsored some of the bills below.
