CALL TO ACTION #1017: Stronger Together! Banish Trumpism! (September 29, 2020)

35 Days

Until Voting Ends!

We’ve been calling it the November 3rd election, but it really takes place in OCTOBER.

Just 22 Days Until Voting Starts!

Mail service could be iffy this year with Trump and DeJoy attacking the USPS. We urge you to vote early, use a ballot box if you can get to one, then track your ballot (more on tracking once the ballots are mailed).

Important Dates:

October 13: Last day to register to vote; postmark or online by 11:59 pm

October 14-20: Voter’s ballots mailed; find your ballot box

October 20: Last day for county Voter’s Pamphlet distribution

October 21: Our recommended last day to mail your ballot

November 3: Ballots must be in a ballot box or with the county clerk by 8 pm

We invite you to watch and share this YouTube video by ORD2 Indivisible co-founder, Jessica Sage:

***Today’s Call To Action***

Stronger Together!

Banish Trumpism!

WE THE PEOPLE demand that the SCOTUS upholds the rule of law, not the corrupt cult of Trumpism. We demand a Supreme Court that protects our civil rights, our environment, our vote, our health and reproductive rights — and our BIPOC, LGBTQ, and immigrant communities.

Trump wants the Supreme Court to repeat its 2000 election decision so he can avoid accountability for his countless crimes against us. His GOP wants SCOTUS to overturn the ACA — to take health care from millions, throw our fragile health care system into financial chaos, and remove protections for pre-existing conditions, including a positive COVID-19 test. They want to:

  • Prevent women from obtaining safe abortions;
  • Promote racist and elitist policies;
  • Brutalize BIPOC, LGBTQ, immigrant, Muslim, and Jewish communities;
  • Put profit before our planet, our health, our lives, our finances, and our Constitutional rights.

We insist that our members of Congress fight for the rule of law, call out unfit Donald Trump’s criminality, and do all they can to prevent confirmation of his SCOTUS nominee before the inauguration. We demand that EVERYONE’s constitutional rights be respected.

Stronger together, we make our daily calls and have a plan to vote!

Get Out the BLUE Vote!

Banish Trumpism!

“My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code].

We cannot allow the Supreme Court to continue sabotaging our democracy and prevent implementation of programs to fix the crises we now face. I ask the Senator to:

  • Call out Trump’s lawlessness — his desperate attempts and threats to undermine our election and avoid accountability for defrauding our government and disregarding our lives;
  • Use every available method to prevent a vote on Trump’s Supreme Court nominee before the inauguration: speak at length, object to unanimous consent agreements, utilize new legislative day rules, object to lifting quorum calls, move to adjourn and recess, utilize layover requirements, raise points of order, file cloture, fast-track statutes, utilize rule XIV, boycott the farcical hearings;
  • Commit to reforming the Supreme Court to save our democracy
  • Call out the GOP’s refusal to vote on the pandemic relief that Americans need and then demand there be no continuing resolution until the HEROES Act is passed

We cannot cave to Trump and his GOP’s bullying.

Thank you.”

“My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [town/city], Oregon [zip code].

Today would be a good day for Greg Walden to honor his oath of office. Here it is in case he has forgotten what he was elected to do:

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.”

Notice that he is supposed to “bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution,” not Donald Trump. Tell Greg that we’re still here, still waiting for him to do that.

Thank you.”

#MyORHealth  Support is available for Oregon’s “helpers”

Lines for Life has created a Virtual Wellness Room to offer support to helpers, mental health professionals, first responders, social workers and anyone considered an essential worker during the COVID-19 pandemic in Oregon. Each check-in call will have a facilitator to guide the conversation.

“We at Lines for Life want to thank you for all the work you do to keep our communities safe,” the organization said. “We are offering a place for helpers to exchange stories of hope and areas of need. We especially want to hear what things are coming up for you personally and explore how we can cheer one another on to continue the good work you are already doing. We ultimately want to create space to breathe out stress and breathe in hope.”

The meetings are held using Zoom conference calls from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at this link: Please share this invite with anyone in your network of Oregon helpers.
