Call to Action: May 28, 2018
TRUMP PUTS THE NRA FIRST AND OUR KIDS LAST
Memorial Day is a sacred day to honor those who have given their lives for our country. Today, we remember them and honor their sacrifices.
Sadly, families in America are also mourning the loss of their children from gun violence. In 2018, more children have died in American schools from gun violence than military members have in combat: 29 students have died in 14 gun-related incidents; 13 service members have died from 7 gun-related incidents.
And while school shootings grab the headlines, EVERY DAY 7 children and teens die from gun violence and 46 children and teens are shot in murders, assaults, suicides & suicide attempts, unintentional shootings, and police intervention.
Trump and his GOP won’t admit guns are the issue because they are loyal to the NRA. In 2016 the NRA spent nearly $30 million to help elect Trump. Money the NRA has taken from Russia that may influence our elected officials in ways that put our children last.
The NRA comes first for the GOP and GREG WALDEN!
Pass comprehensive gun reform NOW!
Protect Our Children!
**ACTION ONE: CALL OUR SENATORS**
“My name is [–] and I’m a constituent and voter from [city], Oregon [zip code]. We are failing our children and must protect them from gun violence. I would like to thank the Senator for committing to vote NO on S.446, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act. However, more action is urgently needed. I’m asking him to 1) introduce, support and pass comprehensive gun legislation now and 2) investigate the NRA’s ties to Russia and their nonprofit status. Thank you.”
