Call to Action: August 18, 2017

STOP ATTACKS ON THE ENVIRONMENT

Trump and the GOP are doing lasting damage to our environment through the budget, legislation and regulation roll backs. We must protect our planet and stop these attacks.

Trump’s 2018 budget threatens the environment by:
cutting EPA funding 30%
cutting EPA staff 20%
jeopardizing our clean water and air by cutting 50 EPA programs http://wapo.st/2uPpO68

The GOP in Congress are attacking the environment through “riders”. Riders are used to sneak legislation through by attaching them to must pass spending bills. Existing riders include relaxing smog limits and green-lighting storage of nuclear waste http://on.nrdc.org/2uIEU1i.

And soon the Senate will vote on the Regulatory Accountability Act (RAA). This bill will change how federal agencies regulate EVERYTHING. Disguised as a “procedural change” the RAA will:
require agencies to adopt the cheapest regulations for corporations, not what is best for the public
instruct agencies to prioritize industry interests above protecting consumers and workers

Trump is leading the GOP in using the government to benefit corporations above public safety and the environment.

Our MoCs must lead the charge in protecting the environment from our own government.
