SAVE OUR DEMOCRACY AND OUR LIVES
This week we saw the best and worst Congress has to offer.
The Best: The Representative Adam Schiff led House Intelligence Committee held public impeachment hearings that heard testimony from Ambassador Bill Taylor and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State George Kent that clearly outlined Trump’s impeachable conduct, including bribery and extortion. The majority House Democrats did and will keep doing their job to save our democracy with more impeachment hearings today and next week.
The Worst: Over in the Senate, as a mass shooting was underway at a California high school, Senator Chris Murphy’s call to act on the background check bill passed by the Democratic-led House in February was blocked by Republican Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith. Moscow Mitch McConnell and his GOP colleagues continue to curry favor with the Russian-backed NRA while our loved ones are dying needless deaths.
Oregon’s Democratic Members of Congress are working hard to save our democracy and save lives with gun violence prevention legislation. Notably missing from this group of patriots is sell-out Greg Walden. We will keep holding him accountable for betraying his Congressional oath until his last day in office.
