Until the November 3rd Election

***Today’s Call To Action***

Remember COVID-19? It’s still out there; cases will certainly spike again because of mass demonstrations across the country. Trump is employing his last weapon to stay in power: CREATE CHAOS. Protesters are facing dual risks—C-19 and violent responses from law enforcement.

Trump’s failure to lead and protect us from COVID-19, his cruelty, amorality and incompetence are so painfully obvious. Countries rich and poor, with different forms of governance, tightly packed cities or sprawling farmlands have contained the virus’s spread without destroying their economies or killing 100,000+ people.

Countries that experienced SARS were much better prepared to deal with C-19. Their populations understood the value of staying home, social distancing, wearing face masks, and hand washing. We could and should have learned from them. LEADERSHIP MATTERS. Successful countries had leaders who modeled best practices themselves:

  • Hong Kong: densely populated, next door to China. 1,100 confirmed cases and four deaths. Average 1 case a day.
  • Taiwan: 450 cases and seven deaths.
  • Singapore: just over 35,000 cases and 24 deaths.
  • New Zealand: 1200 cases, 22 deaths.
  • Germany: 184,000 cases, 8,600 deaths, most between mid-March and mid-April.

Now, let’s contemplate Trump’s response . . .

Is there any doubt that he must go? We will not stop repeating the obvious to politicians who refuse to see. Call our members of Congress. Call friends in other states.

Start the Drumbeat!

Call for Trump to Resign!

“My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code].

We need Trump to go. His destructive handling of George Floyd’s murder and COVID-19 are hurting all of us every day. This on top of refusing to protect our elections, cozying up to Russia, massive grifting, tragic harm to immigrants and repeated dictatorial power grabs.

It’s time. Please tell Senator [  . . .  ] to call for Trump’s resignation. Publicly. Loudly. Every day.

Thank you.”

It’s time. Tell Greg Walden to call for Trump’s resignation. Publicly. Loudly. Every day.

History is watching; Greg’s legacy is at stake. Fascist sympathizer or American patriot.

Never too late to do the right thing.

#MyORHealth  Support is available for Oregon’s “helpers”

Lines for Life has created a Virtual Wellness Room to offer support to helpers, mental health professionals, first responders, social workers and anyone considered an essential worker during the COVID-19 pandemic in Oregon. Each check-in call will have a facilitator to guide the conversation.

“We at Lines for Life want to thank you for all the work you do to keep our communities safe,” the organization said. “We are offering a place for helpers to exchange stories of hope and areas of need. We especially want to hear what things are coming up for you personally and explore how we can cheer one another on to continue the good work you are already doing. We ultimately want to create space to breathe out stress and breathe in hope.”

The meetings are held using Zoom conference calls from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at this link: https://zoom.us/j/4848426773. Please share this invite with anyone in your network of Oregon helpers.
