Trump and GOP Congressional allies continue to help themselves and the mega-rich—at our expense. The House is trying to increase tax breaks of the extremely wealthy while taking food assistance away from lower-income Americans.

Tax Scam 2.0 could add another $2 trillion to the national deficit, which hit $895 billion in first 11 months of fiscal 2018—a 32% increase over 2017:
- Making individual and business pass-through tax cuts permanent and creating Universal Savings Accounts will greatly benefit extremely wealthy—$40,000 average tax cut to richest 1%, $980 to middle 20%, $340 to bottom—but neither encourages economic growth nor raises workers’ wages
- Weakens revenues just when baby-boomer retirements drive spending higher—which the GOP will argue justifies Social Security/Medicare cuts
Months ago, the GOP unilaterally pushed a farm bill through the House that adversely impacts 2+ million Americans by imposing work requirement for receipt of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. A bipartisan Senate bill, however, doesn’t touch SNAP and expands pilot job training programs.
If reconciliation possible, they and Tax Scam 2.0 will come up for vote in early October.
Food security is a non-negotiable human right!

Please tell the Senator to work with Farm Bill conferees to: (1) keep out of the final bill the House-passed work requirements along with other restrictions that will make accessing SNAP benefits difficult, and (2) retain the Senate-passed expanded funding for SNAP employment and training programs. And, if the Tax Scam makes it to the Senate, please tell him to do everything he can to ensure that it dies. Going forward, we need a responsible tax policy that benefits working people, rather than one helping only the rich. Thank you.”
