Call to Action: June 1, 2018
TRUMP FIRST, THEN THE LAW
When threatened, Trump attacks. Lately, he is attacking special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation so often that he appears to confirm he did collude with Russia during the 2016 election.
Trump is smearing Mueller’s investigation (“TOTAL WITCH HUNT”) and investigators (“13 angry Democrats”), as well as the Attorney General (“I wish I” picked someone else) and his deputy (“conflicted”), the FBI (“spies”) and its directors (“deep state conspirators”).
Yesterday, Trump announced he’ll be issuing pardons, which reminds all those who might cooperate with Mueller that the President controls the ultimate free pass.
Each of these acts is intended to undermine or stop Mueller’s investigation. Seen together, Trump has launched an all-out assault on the “rule of law.”
What’s that? It’s the American article of faith that no one is above the law, not even the president.
Polls consistently show the public increasingly (and incorrectly) believes that Mueller’s investigation is politically motivated and hasn’t found anything.
If Trump is successful, he will be beyond the law. Our country was founded on the principle that all people are created equal. Tell our MOCs—WHERE’S WALDEN!!!—that we must keep our system of justice free from political meddling.
Defend the Rule of Law!

**ACTION THREE: REMEMBER FOR THE MIDTERMS**
It has become clear that we need a different Congress to protect our democracy and the rule of law.
- Make sure you and everyone you know is registered to vote.
- Check Trump by working to defeat his enablers—Fire Greg Walden!
- Make sure every candidate for Congress is answering questions about how they will work to work to protect our democracy and the rule of law.
The 2018 elections will be the most important of our lives. The very fate of our democracy depends on it.
