PROTECT IMMIGRANTS

INHUMANE IMMIGRATION AGENCIES
The abuses and family separations at the Southern border continue. Rules of decency and due process are ignored while ICE hunts immigrants in our country’s interior.
- ICE has arrested undocumented immigrants in courthouses and outside schools, sanctuary churches, hospitals, and other sensitive locations
- Thousands of children in federal custody have complained of sexual abuse
- Agencies failed to track separated families and then lied about it says an internal audit
- Oversight of detention facilities is practically nonexistent
The Trump regime is busy tossing out historical protections for immigrants. Congress must step in. Thankfully, the House has begun to hold hearings. Now we need laws that will prevent inhumane treatment and keep families together.
We must call and ask our MoCs to pass:
- Keep Families Together Act would stop the policy of separating families
- Protecting Sensitive Locations Act would prohibit immigration enforcement in courthouses, schools, community centers, health care facilities, houses of worship and other sensitive locations
- REUNITE Act would require the immediate reunification of children who were separated from their parent or legal guardian under the “zero tolerance” policy
- ICE and CBP Body Camera Accountability Act would require body cameras on agents and make footage available for any legal proceedings
