STOP TRUMP’S WAR ON POVERTY
From food and health care to education and housing, Trump and the GOP are on a mission to shred the nation’s safety net.
Trump, Walden and their GOP have been:
- Undermining Obamacare through massive regulatory changes.
- Planning to bundle social services into a “Public Welfare” department that would be easy to attack.
- Planning to raise certain rents on the impoverished by 44%.
- Working to deny food stamps for 5 to 7 million people.
This crusade is driven by a need to pay for the $1.5 trillion in tax breaks to the rich. In other words, hungry children, the elderly and disabled Americans will be paying for Trump’s gift to the wealthiest.

More than one in ten Americans now live in poverty, and 5 million of them live in conditions only found in Third World countries. The US has among the highest child poverty rate in the developed world. Children, in particular, suffer lifelong disabilities stemming from poverty that keeps generation after generation impoverished.
The persistence of poverty results from political choices. We have to speak for those who have had no voice in these discussions.

Today, 637,000 Oregonians live in poverty, and nearly 30% of the state’s children live below the poverty line. Please vote against any Farm Bill or any other measure that hurts the poor. Thank you.”
