Across the nation, Americans are protesting the Brett Kavanaugh nomination. Sham FBI report in hand, McConnell is pressing forward towards a vote, despite the fact that dozens of potential sources were not interviewed by the FBI. In addition to the credible sexual assault charges lodged against him, Kavanaugh’s Senate testimony underscored his untruthfulness, his extreme partisanship, and his general unfitness for office. The following now publicly oppose his nomination:
- Over 2400 law professors
- Retired Justice Stevens (nominated by Republican President Ford)
- National Council of Churches
- Kavanaugh’s classmates, including three “drinking buddies” at Yale, who claim he lied to the Senate
The cloture vote is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. PDT today. If it passes, the vote on Kavanaugh’s nomination could happen 30 hours later.
Senator Heitkamp bravely announced her decision to vote no, leaving four undecided Senators – Flake, Collins, Murkowski, and Manchin.
Three must vote no to defeat Kavanaugh.
Oregon Senators Wyden and Merkley have denounced this nomination and have creatively worked to defeat it. We must support their efforts by making our opposition crystal clear. It is time to pull out all the stops, protest publicly, and . . .
