KILL THE BILL 3.0 and FIX THE ACA

Faced with THREE failed votes last week to repeal the ACA and continued threats from Trump, the Senate GOP have refocused their hopes on the Graham-Cassidy-Heller amendment to repeal the ACA. (http://bit.ly/2vbOTfh)

This amendment has not been scored by the Congressional Budget Office, so no one knows exactly how many Americans might lose coverage or how much premiums might increase… but the Senate may vote on it soon anyway.

Even without a CBO score, we know the amendment would be devastating. It makes deep cuts to federal funding for coverage programs by:
Eliminating premium tax credits and cost-sharing reductions (CSR’s) that help moderate income consumers
Eliminating the ACA’s enhanced match for Medicaid expansion starting in 2020
Replacing the credits and CSR’s with a block grant set to a level well below what the ACA currently provides. After 2026, the block grant funding would end

We need to fix the ACA!

Efforts are underway:
Our senators continue to call for a bipartisan effort to reform health care
The bipartisan House Problem Solvers Caucus (of which Rep. Schrader is a part) released a plan yesterday to stabilize the ACA (http://wapo.st/2vcOfOh)

We must remain vigilant to ensure that the ACA is not sabotaged. We must push for a bipartisan fix to the ACA. We have the momentum, let’s use it to #ProtectOurCare!

**ACTION 1: CALL SENATORS MERKLEY AND WYDEN (if you can’t call during business hours, leave a voice mail!)**

SAMPLE SCRIPT:
“My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon. Thank you for your persistent efforts to save the ACA. When the Graham-Cassidy-Heller amendment comes to the floor for a vote, please vote NO. Please continue to work on a bipartisan way to fix the ACA.”

**ACTION 2: CALL CONGRESSMAN WALDEN (if you can’t call during business hours, leave a voice mail!)**

SAMPLE SCRIPT:
“My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon. I am terribly disappointed in Congressman Walden’s role as the architect of TrumpCare. I ask that Congressman Walden reach across the aisle to fix the ACA.”
