Thirteen Russian operatives and three Russian companies were indicted for conspiracy to subvert the 2016 election by aiding Trump using social media platforms. While Mueller was securing two more guilty pleas (more are expected soon), Trump, the GOP, and Russian bots sought to tarnish the Russia investigation. As Mueller quietly continued to investigate email hacking and obstruction, US intelligence leaders agreed that Russian meddling endangers the integrity of the 2018 elections.
Trump has:
• refused to hold Russia responsible for proven election interference
• refused to impose sanctions on Russia
• called the investigation a “witch hunt” and a “hoax”
• undermined the FBI, the DOJ, and Mueller at every opportunity
Shockingly, McConnell KNEW about Russian election meddling before the 2016 election but refused to support bipartisan efforts to expose and stop it. Now, Republicans—including #Complicit Greg Walden—controlling both the House and Senate, have not passed bipartisan legislation that:
• safeguards our elections – the foundation of American democracy – from foreign interference
• protects Mueller from removal
Congress must act now to prevent the 2018 elections from being hijacked and to safeguard the Mueller investigation. Call BS!
