DAYS UNTIL MID-TERM BALLOTS WILL BE MAILED: 27

DAYS UNTIL MID-TERM BALLOTS ARE DUE: 47

ASSIST DISASTER VICTIMS

“And how is Lake Norman?” Trump asked while visiting hurricane-ravaged North Carolina. “I can’t tell you why, but I love that area.” Lake Norman is home to Trump National Golf Club.

That self-interested question, like the images of Trump hurling paper towels to storm victims in Puerto Rico last year, illustrates Trump’s insensitivity to human suffering. Thirty-seven people have died. Massive flooding from three feet of rain has left over 7800 people in shelters and caused environmental catastrophes.

While Florence was approaching the East Coast, Trump:

  • Defiantly, erroneously rejected the sharply-increased number of deaths (2975) due to Hurricane Maria, estimated by academics and accepted by the Puerto Rican Government, as “done by Democrats”
  • Called FEMA’s Puerto Rico response an “unsung success” despite a death toll exceeding Hurricane Katrina’s
  • Took FEMA funds to pay for ICE detention centers

Trump reserves sympathy for people like him – white, privileged men credibly accused of abusing women. Trump sympathized with his former Staff Secretary, also credibly accused of battering several women. Trump now sympathizes with Kavanaugh, credibly accused of sexual assault, rather than Professor Christine Blasey Ford, who is in hiding after receiving death threats.

Yet, Greg Walden continues to unapologetically support Trump.

Walden’s silence confirms his complicity.

Where’s Walden? Hiding. Hoping voters won’t compare his words to his deeds. Won’t work. The word is getting out.

ASSIST FLORENCE VICTIMS!

PERSIST OPPOSING KAVANAUGH!

WE BELIEVE PROFESSOR CHRISTINE BLASEY FORD!

**ACTION ONE: CALL OUR SENATORS**

SAMPLE SCRIPT FOR SENATORS MERKLEY AND WYDEN:
(Leave a message if you can’t get through)

“My name is [–] and I’m a constituent and voter from [city], Oregon [zip code]. I am calling about Trump’s callous mishandling of disaster responses and the Kavanaugh nomination. FEMA’s response after Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico was itself a disaster. What went wrong should be investigated. FEMA funds should not be diverted to house ICE detainees. And Trump must not be allowed to put a credibly-accused assailant and demonstrable liar on the nation’s highest court. Please do everything you can to ensure that there is no Senate vote on Kavanaugh’s nomination until the allegations against him have been investigated, all the records are released, and the Mueller investigation has cleared Trump. Thank you.”

**ACTION TWO: CALL COMPLICIT GREG WALDEN**

SAMPLE SCRIPT:

“My name is [–] and I’m a constituent and voter from [city], Oregon [zip code]. I am calling about Trump’s callous mishandling of disaster responses—and just as important, Greg Walden’s silent complicity with Trump’s every word and action. FEMA’s response after Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico was itself a disaster. What went wrong should be investigated. And FEMA funds should not be diverted to house ICE detainees. Mr. Walden has the power to work on all of this, yet he does not act. Please tell him to Stop Selling Us Out and to DO HIS JOB! Thank you.”
