RESTORE NET NEUTRALITY NOW

#FCCHandsOffTheNet
#NetNeutrality

Despite massive public opposition, in December Trump’s FCC voted 3-2 to reverse regulations protecting net neutrality, giving internet service providers (ISPs) new ways to control what we see, do and say online.

But it went even further:
–eliminating rules prohibiting ISPs from charging websites for priority access over home/mobile Internet services
–turning enforcement of “transparency” over to FTC
–barring states from making their own net neutrality rules

America needs a free and fair internet that:
protects freedom to speak, connect, hear diverse voices/opinions
allows vulnerable communities to bypass traditional media gatekeepers
supports innovation; gives all businesses, especially small ones, equal access to customers
helps rural communities overcome relative isolation and connect with external resources

The Congressional Review Act (CRA) gives Congress 60 legislative days from publication in the Federal Register to reverse regulatory actions. Since the FCC released its order on January 4, the clock has started ticking.

Net neutrality defenders are poised for battle—18 state attorneys-general to sue, and enough Senators have committed to force a Senate vote over McConnell’s objection.

Our MoCs, in both chambers, must force a vote to restore net neutrality and overturn this extremely unpopular, damaging FCC order.

Net. Neutrality. NOW!

**ACTION 1: Call Congressman Walden and our Senators**

SAMPLE SCRIPT for Congressman Walden:
“My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon, [zip code]. I am calling to express my strong disapproval of the FCC’s order destroying net neutrality. I demand that you use the Congressional Review Act to preserve a free and open internet equally accessible to all Americans. You must Put People Before Party and use your powers of persuasion to get commitments from enough colleagues on both sides of the aisle so that—once the order is published in the Federal Register—the House can move quickly to force its repeal. It’s now or never, Congressman; we’re mad as hell, and we’re not going to take it anymore. Step up and do the right thing!”

SAMPLE SCRIPT for Senators Merkley and Wyden:
“My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code]. I am calling to express my strong disapproval of the FCC’s order destroying net neutrality. Thank you for signing the resolution to use the Congressional Review Act to preserve a free and open internet equally accessible to all Americans. Please use your powers of persuasion to get commitments from enough colleagues on both sides of the aisle so that—once the order is published in the Federal Register—the Senate can move quickly to force its repeal. Thank you.”

**ACTION 2: Thank Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenbloom**
