FIGHT BACK AGAINST TRUMPCARE VOTE
————————————————————————————
#VoteThemOut
#ProtectOurCare
We may have lost the vote on TrumpCare in the House – just barely — but we have only begun to fight!
– Yesterday, 217 Republicans voted for an AHCA bill that: robs healthcare from 24 million Americans; cuts $880 billion from Medicaid; hikes deductibles by $1500 on average; increases premiums up to 750% for older people; denies affordable insurance to millions with a broad range of pre-existing conditions and removes essential benefits from millions more — including schoolkids with special needs. See more at http://bit.ly/2peiuhx .
– They voted “yes” hoping their constituents’ are willing to sacrifice their own health and lives in the name of partisan political beliefs.
Let’s prove them wrong!
To fight back we must:
Send the House a message
Send the Senate a message
Send the President a message
To fight back we must:
We call our Reps
We call our Senators
We bombard social media
We show up in person
We donate
We share our stores
WE REMEMBER COME NOVEMBER 2018
This fight is not over!
***ACTION 1: CALL CONGRESSMAN WALDEN ***
The most effective calls include a personal story about how this issue affects you. Or, adapt our scripts:
SAMPLE SCRIPT: “My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon. I am appalled that Congressman Walden was an architect of the AHCA. I will remember his role and his vote come November 2018 (feel free to add personal stories on how this will affect your life).”
***ACTION 2: CALL SENATORS WYDEN AND MERKLEY***
SAMPLE SCRIPT:
“My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon. I am counting on Senator {-} to be an outspoken and vocal leader against the AHCA. There is no amendment that can fix this disastrous bill. Please make sure it dies in the Senate, and work with your colleagues across the aisle to draft legislation to improve—not repeal and replace—the popular Affordable Care Act. “
***ACTION 3: TWEET THE GUILTY REPS***
We must bombard the Reps who voted for this on social media – they must know what is at stake. Start with this tweet (http://bit.ly/2pMb0FZ) from the Indivisible Guide and retweet the whole series.
***ACTION 4: SHOW UP IN PERSON***
We must show up in person to a town hall or district offices. US Representatives should be at home for the next 11 days for the House recess. Go see them. Ask questions about the future of health care. Share your story. Follow events here: http://bit.ly/2qwYTxc
**ACTION 5: DONATE***
We must donate to the opponents of Republicans in swing districts who voted for Trumpcare http://bit.ly/2pdSxPi
***ACTON 6: SHARE YOUR STORY***
We must share our stories with Congress and the President. Tweet them directly (@realDonaldTrump, @HouseGOP, @SenateGOP). Send them to Senator Merkley at http://bit.ly/2mTMX5P And/or, send your story to Indivisible Oregon via private message on FB; they will group stories together and deliver them to our Senators’ staff.
***ACTION 7: ***
We must engage family and friends. Please share these action items, ESPECIALLY to people who live in any of these districts: http://bit.ly/2qx3Iq5
