The network of Trump and associates’ entanglements continues to expand at an alarming rate. (http://wapo.st/2mYg463) Members of Congress—including those Republicans who have called for investigations–must work swiftly to unravel this web. Even the President should support these efforts—after all it is the only way to clear his name and address his so-far baseless claims of wiretapping.

Last week, we urged our Oregon MOC’s to call for Attorney General Jeff Sessions (who lied under oath about his own Russia contacts) to resign, and to push for transparent inquiries into this potential threat to our national security. All have done so, with the exception of Greg Walden.

Today, it is time to deepen the pressure by linking this issue to another critical one: President Obama’s stolen Supreme Court seat. Our Oregon Senators have called for filibustering the eventual confirmation vote, but they could employ another tactic: delaying Judge Gorsuch’s Senate hearings altogether until there is a full, impartial investigation of Team Trump’s Russia ties, including the release of the President’s tax returns.

Meanwhile, our House members should urge Sessions’ deputy to immediately appoint a Special Counsel to lead a broad nonpartisan inquiry.

**ACTION 1: CALL SENATORS WYDEN AND MERKLEY**

Sample script:
“My name is [—], a constituent from [city], Oregon (zip code). I would like to thank the Senator for calling on Jeff Sessions to resign, and for backing full impartial investigations of Trump’s Russia ties. As long as critical questions remain regarding the President’s allegiances, he should not have the right to nominate a Supreme Court Justice, which will shape our country’s judicial branch for decades. I’m asking the Senator to delay hearings on Judge Gorsuch until there is a full accounting of those ties, including the release of Trump’s tax returns. Is this something the Senator will consider?

**ACTION 2: CALL REPRESENTATIVE WALDEN**

Sample script for Greg Walden:
“My name is [—], a constituent from [city], Oregon (zip code) I am very concerned about Representative Walden’s failure to speak out the potentially dangerous political and business ties between Trump and his associates and Russia. I urge that he directly ask Deputy US Attorney General Dana Boenta to appoint a Special Counsel immediately—this week–to conduct a full and impartial investigation.
