Jordan Cove and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) are hosting Open Houses in all four impacted communities on March 7 through March 10. It’s time to let our public officials know that Southern Oregon does not want the LNG fracked gas pipeline and export terminal project brought back from the dead.
The project has been rejected twice by the FERC– most recently in December 2016. But now, with a new administration in Washington DC, Jordan Cove has pre-filed for another application, claiming that because it made some changes in the proposal it is entitled to restart the entire process.
FERC requires that a company hold “open houses” in each county along the pipeline route. With very short notice, Jordan Cove has announced that open houses will happen the second week of March (see schedule and locations below), seemingly hoping that opposition will not be notified. They were wrong!
It’s time for big turnout to show we want our federal and state government to encourage good-paying jobs in improving energy efficiency and the expanding clean energy industry, not new fossil fuel projects that hurt us all.
