Fifteen Days until Joe Biden and Kamala Harris take their Oaths of Office

***CALL TO ACTION***

It’s Time to Make America Better

Making America better will require simultaneous work in three areas: reinforcing democracy, dismantling racism, and revitalizing the American community.

Reinforcing democracy requires many actions steps including:

  1. Strengthening both the basic safeguards against presidential abuses and the checks and balances between the legislative and executive branches.

  2. Restoring accountability with investigations of those who have undermined the Constitution and the rule of law.

  3. Passing ethics reforms across the federal government.

Dismantling racism, which is deeply rooted and continues to divide us, starts by:

  1. Ending the voter suppression that prevents racial minorities, the elderly and youth access to voting.

  2. Requiring police reform including racial bias training and ending “qualified immunity,” which shields officers from the consequences of misconduct.

Revitalizing our shared community begins by:

  1. Restructuring the economy to end wealthy favoritism and help the middle class.

  2. Caring for the impoverished by strengthening communities.

  3. Strengthening public K-12 schools and lowering financial barriers to higher education.

We’ve learned over these last four years that democracy needs OUR constant attention. Fighting Trump is ending; fighting Trumpism is not. Our work to build a better country is just beginning.

Call your Members of Congress. Tell them you are ready, willing and able to . . .

Help Build a Better America!

#MyORHealth  Support is available for Oregon’s “helpers”

Lines for Life has created a Virtual Wellness Room to offer support to helpers, mental health professionals, first responders, social workers and anyone considered an essential worker during the COVID-19 pandemic in Oregon. Each check-in call will have a facilitator to guide the conversation.

“We at Lines for Life want to thank you for all the work you do to keep our communities safe,” the organization said. “We are offering a place for helpers to exchange stories of hope and areas of need. We especially want to hear what things are coming up for you personally and explore how we can cheer one another on to continue the good work you are already doing. We ultimately want to create space to breathe out stress and breathe in hope.”

The meetings are held using Zoom conference calls from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at this link: https://zoom.us/j/4848426773Please share this invite with anyone in your network of Oregon helpers.
