SUMMARY:Let's Celebrate the Anniversary of Medicaid/Medicare! - Medford or Wherever You Are
DESCRIPTION:The event previously planned for Medford has now been modified!\nDue to concerns raised by the smoke in our region\, we have decided to modify the rally on Monday\, July 30 and make it a virtual rally.  Our plan was for ORD2 Indivisible to join Unite Oregon at noon at Vogel Plaza\, followed by a march to the offices of our Members of Congress\, Jeff Merkley\, Ron Wyden and Greg Walden. \nInstead\, we are asking people to make a short (1-2 minute) video talking about the importance of health care in your life and in the lives of your loved ones\, some sort of testimonial. Consider weaving in the impact of knowing that many of our elected officials\, including Walden\, have been working to take away our coverage. \nAnother option\, should you prefer\, is to use this template to write a letter to our MOC’s with your health care testimonials. \n \nSome people are still planning to gather at Vogel Plaza at noon so if you would like\, we welcome you to join us or to drop off your letters. The letters will be duplicated and copies will be delivered to the offices of each of our MOC’s. \nAdditional options\, when you have completed your videos and letters\, please send copies to us at contact@ord2indivisible.org and/or post them on Facebook Messenger\, whichever is easier for you. Our plan is to share the videos and letters as far and wide as we can\, reaching out to others so they know how critically important health care and the Medicaid & Medicare programs are in the lives of millions.

SUMMARY:Non-ORD2 Indivisible Sponsored Event - Lanita Witt's Canvassing Kickoff! - Postponed!!
DESCRIPTION:POSTPONED DUE TO SMOKE IN THE VALLEY! \n  \nCanvassing is a fun\, easy way to foster community and promote positive change. It’s also a great way to spread the word about a great candidate! \nLanita Witt is the Democratic candidate running for Jackson County Commissioner Position 3. She will be having a Canvassing Kickoff on Saturday\, July 21st at 10 AM at the Peace House in Ashland. We’ll teach you how to canvass\, give you some houses to visit\, and send you off with some snacks! The whole meeting should only take about an hour\, and the canvassing should only be another hour after that. \nIf you’d like to come\, please RSVP to lanitawitt@gmail.com. And feel free to bring a friend! The more the merrier\, and canvassing is always more fun with a buddy. \nWe also ask that you bring a mobile device\, sunscreen\, a hat\, and a bottle of water. We’re starting early to try to avoid the heat\, but best to be prepared. \nIf you really want to be a superstar\, download the app\, miniVAN\, onto your mobile device. We will be using this app to assign houses and keep track of information throughout the campaign season. If you’ve already got it downloaded and have created an account before the kick-off\, you’ll help make the meeting run that much smoother. \nThis is such an important election season\, and the local races are just as important as the national ones. We couldn’t do this without your generosity and support for Lanita! We can’t wait to see you and to get this show on the road! \nSee you on Saturday!

SUMMARY:4th of July Parade: "Empowering Wellness Through Community" - Ashland
DESCRIPTION:Come march with ORD2 Indivisible for the Ashland 4th of July Parade!\nLast year we had a great experience and were extremely well received\, many people commented that we were their favorite part of the parade\, due to both our message and our SINGING!  \nWe will also have a booth at Lithia Park for the 4th of July festivities\, booth number 17. We could always use help in staffing the booth so if you are able to do so\, please send an e-mail to volunteer@ord2indivisible.org and we’ll coordinate with you prior to the 4th. \nWe are extremely fortunate that our Maestra Extraordinaire Holly Foster will once again be taking up the baton to help us share this year’s songs as we march along proclaiming our love for our community and our dedication to holding our Members of Congress accountable. \nPlease join us as we gather on Alida Street to line up for the parade.  We are contingent number 902.\n \nPlease note that we will begin lining up as early as 6:00 a.m. as there will be street closures in Ashland in preparation for the parade.  If you will be driving to Ashland\, plan to arrive early enough to allow for parking prior to the street closures. If parking will not be an issue for you\, please join us by 9:00 a.m. \nWhile we wait for the parade to begin\, Maestra Holly will warm us up as we prepare to sing: \n\nBecause All Men Are Brothers and Women All Are Sisters\nWe Shall Not Be Moved\nIf I Had A Hammer\n\nIf you are available\, join us for our final\, fun-filled rehearsal to learn the lyrics and the great melodies of these important and appropriate songs on July 3 at 7:00 p.m. at the Phoenix Library.  \nHere are the lyrics\, modified just a wee bit by Maestra Holly to fit our times and circumstances: \nBECAUSE ALL MEN ARE BROTHERS AND WOMEN ALL ARE SISTERS\nMusic 1613 by H.L. Hassler\, lyrics 1948 by the Tom Glazer\n \n1. Because all men are brothers\, wherever men may be\nAnd women all are sisters\, forever proud and free\nNo tyrant shall defeat us\, no nation strike us down\nAnd all who toil shall greet us the whole wide world around. \n2. All people are my family\, forever hand in hand\nWhere chimes the bell of freedom\, there is my native land.\nAll people’s fears are my fears\, yellow\, white or brown.\nAnd all their tears are my tears\, the whole wide world around. \n3. Let every voice be thunder\, let every heart be strong!\nUntil all tyrants perish our work will not be done.\nLet every pain be token\, the lost years shall be found.\nLet slavery’s chains be broken\, the whole wide world around. \nIF I HAD A HAMMER\n1949 by Pete Seeger and Lee Hays\n \n1. If I had a hammer I’d hammer in the morning\,\nI’d hammer in the evening\, all over this land.\nI’d hammer out danger\, I’d hammer out a warning\,\nI’d hammer out the love between my brothers and my sisters\nAll over this land. \n2. If I had a bell\, I’d ring it in the morning… \n3. If I had a song\, I’d sing it in the morning… \n4. Well I’ve got a hammer\, and I’ve got a bell\,\nAnd I’ve got a song to sing all over this land\nIt’s the hammer of justice\, it’s the bell of freedom\nIt’s a song about the love between my brothers and my sisters\nall over this land. \nWE SHALL NOT BE MOVED\nAfrican American Spiritual\, adapted as a protest song during the Civil Rights Movement of 1954-1968\n \n1. We shall not\, we shall not be moved.\nWe shall not\, we shall not be moved.\nJust like a tree that’s planted by the water\, we shall not be moved. \n2. When we stand together we shall not be moved.\nWhen we stand together we shall not be moved.\nJust like a tree that’s planted by the water\, we shall not be moved. \n3. Old and young together\, we shall not be moved.\nOld and young together\, we shall not be moved.\nJust like a tree that’s planted by the water\, we shall not be moved. \n4. Red\, brown white and yellow\, we shall not be moved.\nRed\, brown white and yellow\, we shall not be moved.\nJust like a tree that’s planted by the water\, we shall not be moved. \n5. Fuertes\, fuertes\, fuertes somos ya.\nFuertes\, fuertes\, fuertes somos ya.\nComo’un arbol firme juntos al rio\, fuertes somos ya. \n(Translation: Strong\, strong\, we are strong now like a tree firmly joined to the river\, we are strong now) \nWE LOOK FORWARD TO MARCHING WITH YOU ON JULY 4!

SUMMARY:Non ORD2 Event: No Pipeline Rally and Lobby Day at the Oregon State Capitol - Salem
DESCRIPTION:On Thursday\, January 11th\, communities across Oregon and Northern California are heading to Salem to ask Governor Brown to stand up for the climate by stopping the Pacific Connector Fracked Gas Pipeline and Jordan Cove LNG Export Terminal. \nThis 229-mile pipeline and fracked gas export project would: \n\n threaten 400 waterways\ndisturb tribal territories and cultural sites\ntrample the rights of landowners through the use of eminent domain\nput at risk the existing jobs in fishing\, tourism\, and other sectors\ndrive up energy prices\nbecome the largest source of climate pollution in the state of Oregon\n\nCan you join the day of action? RSVP HERE \nGov. Brown: Stand Up for the Climate\, Stop the Pipeline Rally\nOregon State Capitol Steps (900 Court St NE\, Salem\, Oregon 97301)\nThursday\, January 11th\nRally from 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.\nLobby visits starting at 1:30 p.m. \nCarpools are leaving from across the state\, more information ->HERE<- \nOn the same day\, Oil Change International and the No LNG Exports Coalition are releasing a groundbreaking report that will show the full climate impacts of the proposed Jordan Cove project from fracking in Colorado\, Wyoming\, or Canada to burning the gas overseas. This will be the first lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions analysis of the project. \nGov. Brown and her State Agencies have the authority to deny state permits and stop this project once and for all. Brown recently returned from international climate talks where she said\, “Despite the decision by the White House to retreat from leadership on climate\, I see it as not only our moral obligation\, but an economic imperative to lead in the fight against climate change.” We couldn’t agree more. Here in Oregon\, we need Gov. Brown to walk her climate talk by stopping this project for good and helping our state transition to clean energy jobs for our rural communities. \nHope to see you at the capitol in the new year! RSVP HERE \nThe No LNG Exports Coalition \nP.S. Oregon legislators will just be in Salem for three days in January\, and we need them to know that stopping Jordan Cove is a top priority.  Can you help get out the word by volunteering for a few hours in the next two weeks? Email Lupe@RogueClimate.org to get plugged in. We are also raising money to help pay for vans to get people to Salem from across the pipeline route.  Donate HERE to chip in. \nP.P.S. SUMMARY:Indivisible National Day of Action!
DESCRIPTION:For weeks\, Indivisible groups have been showing up at congressional offices around the country to say no to #TrumpTaxScam. ORD2 held a very vocal Trump Tax Scam rally at Vogel Plaza on November 14 after which a group visited Greg Walden’s Medford office sharing our message of disdain for his support of this immoral act. \nOn Monday\, November 27\, the entire Indivisible national network will be showing up together to say that #TrumpTaxScam would hurt our friends\, our families and our country—and we’re not letting that happen without a fight.  Join us as we present our unified ORD2 front once again. \nFollowing the rally we will march to Senator Ron Wyden’s office\, sharing our messages en route.  Once there we will thank Senator Wyden and his staff members for tirelessly and vociferously standing against the Trump Tax Scam.  We will redouble our request to Senator Wyden to vote against the “Motion to Proceed” on the Senate tax bill. This is a key first step in the Senate process as there must be at least 50 votes for the bill to proceed.  With the help of our Senators this latest abomination can and must be stopped! \nWear your ORD2 Indivisible garb\, bring your flags\, signs\, pictures\, posters and messages.  Invite your families\, friends and neighbors to join us as well! \nThose interested in carpooling from Ashland\, please meet at the mailboxes by Shop n’ Kart\, 2268 Ashland Street at 11:00 a.m.

SUMMARY:Benefit Concert for Puerto Rico
DESCRIPTION:The public is invited for an evening of music and solidarity with Puerto Rico at the “People for Puerto Rico Benefit Concert” on Sunday\, November 5\, from 5-9 pm at the Historic Ashland Armory. The event is for all ages and there will be a designated area with adult beverages available as well. Organizers are asking for $20 or larger donations at the door. They will also be selling raffle tickets with enticing prizes\, including a guitar\, music\, gift certificates for massage\, and much more. \nWhen Hurricane Maria reached Puerto Rico\, it pummeled the island and destroyed homes\, hospitals\, schools\, and most of the island’s power grid. A month later\, residents in many locations across the island still lack access to food\, potable water\, shelter\, and medical attention. \nLocal musicians and activists Alice DiMicele and Greg Frederick teamed up to plan something to help\, as they did after disasters in Haiti\, Japan\, and Nepal. “After searching countless websites and non-profit organizations\,” says DiMicele\, “we found an opportunity to make a big difference without just throwing money into the pockets of a big organization with a CEO who has a six-figure salary.” \nDiMicele’s brother-in-law\, Randy Ortiz\, is going to Puerto Rico next month with a group of business people and volunteers from Atlanta to help rebuild schools and medical facilities and to help distribute much needed aid to the most vulnerable. \nAsha Deliverance and her Ashland-based company Pacific Domes and Eric Hansen at True South Solar have offered to supply domes and solar systems at cost. Ortiz and his team will deliver them to the island. These domes will provide instantly solid shelters\, schools\, and community centers. Remaining cash from the event will be donated to the Hispanic Federation\, which is leading the way in bringing relief aid to Puerto Rico. \nDiMicele says\, “I called Vince Herman from Leftover Salmon\, who recently moved to Ashland\, and asked him to help. His answer\, a resounding ‘Yes!’ So Herman will headline the event and will sit in with the Alice DiMicele Band and also local bluegrass band 33 String Drive.” \nGreg Frederick’s two bands — LEFT and The Rogue Suspects — are on the bill along with a bevy of local talent including: Inger Jorgenson and Paul Turnipseed\, Phoenix Sigalove\, Diane Patterson\, B Wishes and Jack Hopfinger\, Frankie Hernandez\, Bishop Mayfield\, Shybo Torres\, and Marc Gostnell. \nEvent sponsors include Havurah Shir Hadash Synagogue\, Live at the Armory\, United Way of Jackson County\, ORD2 Indivisible\, and Hilltop Music Shop. \nAny group or church that would like to be a sponsor for the event or would like to send volunteers to help should contact Alice DiMicele at ottermusic@mind.net. \nAbout some of the musicians: \n• Vince Herman is a guitarist and singer best known as one of the founding members of Leftover Salmon and Great American Taxi. His infectious stage presence and humor engage his audiences and leave them overjoyed and wanting more.\n• Alice DiMicele is a singer/songwriter and acoustic guitar player who seamlessly works jazz/blues phrasing and R&B and rock & roll rhythms into a broadened Folk/Roots/Americana sound she calls “Organic Acoustic Groove.” For more than 30 years\, Alice has been bringing her wide-ranging vocal prowess\, humor\, and distinctive guitar style to festival stages\, theaters\, clubs\, and house concerts.\n• LEFT is a labor of love comprised of five of Southern Oregon’s most accomplished and creative players who came together in support of the original music written by singer/songwriter Bret Levick. LEFT:  Greg Frederick on bass\, Don Harriss on keys\, Bob Evoniuk on slide guitar and Matt Terreri on percussion. Levick’s music can be heard on television’s top hit shows “Lucifer\,” “Shameless\,” “Grey’s Anatomy\,” “Sons of Anarchy\,” and more.\n• The Rogue Suspects have been Southern Oregon’s premier musical act for 18 years. Whether appearing with or behind rock and rolls’ who’s-who or gracing the most prominent stages in the area\, the Suspects have earned the honor of being named the Rogue Valley’s favorite band over and over.  The Rogue Suspects:  Shae Celine\, Greg Frederick\, Dirk Price\, Don Harriss\, and David Bolen.

SUMMARY:Flash Rally - Monday\, September 25 at Noon\, Vogel Plaza\, Medford - Save the ACA!
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we gather for a Flash Rally!  The theme of this rally is Save the ACA! \nTrumpCare is back and Senate Republicans are as close as they’ve ever been to passing it. This is TrumpCare’s last stand. \nThe Graham-Cassidy-Heller Amendment is poised to pass the Senate next week.  We cannot take this threat seriously enough. With their backs against the wall\, those who have devoted years to attacking the Affordable Care Act will do everything they can to get this through. And Republicans are very\, very close to having the 50 votes they need to pass it. \nJoin us on Monday at Vogel Plaza in Medford (corner of East Main and Central) where we will conduct a PHONE RELAY.  We will be making calls from Greg Walden’s office to Senators in “flipable states” demanding that they VOTE NO ON GRAHAM-CASSIDY! \nWe’ll be making calls from Walden’s office because: \n\nHe shares key responsibility for initiating the repeal the ACA efforts\nHe has repeatedly abandoned his constituents on multiple issues such as the ACA\nHe needs to be held accountable for his actions and inactions\nHe and his staff need to continue to feel our presence\nWe are INDIVISIBLE\n\nBring your mobile phones\, families\, friends\, flags\, signs and messages!\n Wear your ORD2 Indivisible T-shirts!\n\nWe must organize like never before!\nGraham-Cassidy-Heller contains deep cuts to Medicaid.\nGraham-Cassidy-Heller eliminates protections for people with pre-existing conditions.\nGraham-Cassidy-Heller provides a giant tax break for those who don’t need it.\nGraham-Cassidy-Heller attacks women’s health. \n\nMonday\, September 25\, 2017 at noon\, Vogel Plaza\, Medford \nNOTE:  Those interested in carpooling from Ashland\, please meet at the mailboxes by Shop n’ Kart\, 2268 Ashland Street at 11:00 a.m.
