Panelists will speak to the need for climate adaptation strategies to drive conservation and land management decision making in this time of rapid environmental change. \nPanelists: Alan Journet\, PhD\, Co-facilitator SOCAN; Bill Kuhn\, PhD\, Southwest Oregon Area Ecologist RRSNF; Jessica Halofsky\, PhD\, Research Ecologist\, Pacific Northwest Research Station Director \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER\n  \n \n  \nAlan Journet taught Biology and Environmental Science for thirty years at Southeast Missouri State University\, was active in the local Sierra Club group\, and formed the Southeast Missouri Climate Protection Initiative. Finding no grassroots climate activist organization in the region\, Alan and Kathy established Southern Oregon Climate Action Now\, of which he serves as Co-facilitator and Board President. \n  \n \nBill Kuhn has been the Area Ecologist for the US Forest Service Southwest Oregon area since 2017\, and leads a small team of ecologists that support the Rogue River-Siskiyou and Umpqua National Forests. As an applied ecologist\, Bill utilizes published research\, models\, datasets\, and inventory and monitoring data to inform forest specialists and managers about recommended management direction. Rogue Retreat operates Hope Village\, the tiny-house transitional housing community in Medford\, and also operates\, in partnership with ACCESS and the Jackson County Continuum of Care\, the 54-bed Kelly Shelter in Medford\, which became a year-round shelter last November. \nLanita Witt is a retired physician with more than 45 years of experience in medicine and 30 years treating patients in Jackson County. Since retirement\, she has been a student of public health issues\, including attending the Local Alcohol and Drug Policy Committee of Jackson County as well as gaining an understanding of the Jefferson Regional Health Alliance work with the Community Health Assessment (CHA) and the ongoing Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP). She has also participated in Oregon Recovers advocacy for drug and alcohol recovery programs in Oregon. \nLauri Hoagland (facilitator) is a family nurse practitioner at La Clinica’s Mobile Health Center and at the Phoenix Health Center. DESCRIPTION:In advance of the 2020 legislative session\, Representative Pam Marsh is hosting a community Town Hall on Saturday\, February 1\, 10:30 AM to Noon at the Unitarian Fellowship Hall in Ashland. \nShe will share updates about the issues that will be front and center in this year’s session\, which begins on February 3\, including climate and wildfire\, and she will report on legislation she is proposing for the expansion of rural internet technology and a ban of online e-cigarette sales to youth. \nRep Marsh represents constituents of House District 5 – Southern Jackson County from the Applegate to Green Springs\, including Jacksonville\, Phoenix\, Talent\, Ashland and the southwest corner of Medford. DESCRIPTION:CHASE THE WINTER BLUES AWAY in support of Laundry Love and Rogue Valley Dreamers DACA Legal Support Fund!\n \n  \nRaising funds to support DACA Renewal Fees for Dreamers\, and Laundry Love for Unhoused Neighbors. THE BLISTER SISTERS\, Lynne Pethtel and Jeannie Marsh\, have a passion for social justice and a belief in the power of music to draw folks together. Joined by Lisa Spencer\, Karen Wennlund and friends\, this evening is guaranteed to lift spirits during the darkest time of year. \nThis concert will benefit two important local programs: \nLAUNDRY LOVE began more than 20 years ago with these words. “If I had clean clothes\, I think people would treat me like a human being.” – T Bone. Our local LAUNDRY LOVE has been operating exclusively through donations and volunteers from area churches. We have provided clean clothing\, bedding and friendship to hundreds of people over the past four years. \nROGUE VALLEY DREAMERS DACA LEGAL SUPPORT FUND.\nKeep hope alive for DREAMERS! Legal status for DREAMERS will come under review by the Supreme Court sometime in the coming year. It is likely that their protected status under DACA will be revoked resulting in loss of work\, study and possible deportation. Your contribution will allow DREAMERS to renew their authorizations with the help of Non-Profit Legal Services. There is a $495 fee for each renewal application and requests for between 3-4 applications each month. Currently the revolving fund to help DREAMERS is tapped out. \nJOIN US SATURDAY\, JANUARY 25TH BETWEEN 7 – 9 pm\nUCC CHURCH AT 717 SISKIYOU BLVD\, ASHLAND\nSUGGESTED DONATION OF $10 – $100\nNo one will be turned away for lack of funds
